Become A Heritage Camp Counselor

Counselor applications for the 2024 camp season will be accepted beginning February 1, 2024. APPLY TODAY!

Year after year, adoptees tell us that their counselors are the most important part of camp. Our counselors are enthusiastic young adults (and adults of all ages), some adoptees themselves, who often have the same ethnic or racial identity as the adopted children at camp. Any young adult who is enthusiastic about working with kids and/or teens is welcome to apply, regardless of racial identity.

Counselors participate in all of the camp workshops and activities with the kids, but most importantly, serve as positive role models for the children and families who attend camp.

Though our counselors are volunteers, the camp pays for all food and lodging while at camp. If you are applying from out-of-state, it will be up to you to arrange and pay for your own transportation to camp.

This experience may also be used as credit toward community service requirements in high school or college courses, and HCAF’s Executive Director has written many letters of recommendation for counselors applying for scholarship or employment opportunities.
* Counselors must be 18 years or older to apply.

If you are interested in becoming a Heritage Camp counselor, please submit the following application no later than one month prior to the applicable camp start date. You will receive an immediate confirmation when we receive your application, then your camp’s counselor coordinators will contact you to let you know your application is being reviewed and to provide further details about your role at camp.
