Colorado Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families

Highlights from Last Year's Camp

We celebrated "The Year of the Pig " and “Stories and Journeys” in 2007. Our Saturday night event brought back the ever popular Fashion Show featuring children in outfits from Ao Dais to camp T-shirts. They were all a hit!

Saturday night also featured the kids showing what they learned in martial arts & dance. Special performances by the Shaolin Kung Fu School, and the “High Flyerz” performing groups received a standing ovation. Our High School group rocked the house with a huge Hip-Hop performance.

Sunday morning brought our keynote speaker, Ngo Thu An, who shared her experiences of change brought on by a criminal attack as a young girl in Vietnam. Her strength and spirit was an inspiration to everyone.
2007 was more than just a camp and more than just a convention; it was an event! Vietnamese Heritage Camp was proud to welcome Vietnamese Adoptee Network (VAN) in a joint event that staggered our imaginations. VAN is a network of adult Vietnamese adoptees that come together for a conference every two years. In 2007 we were proud to be able to come together with VAN in a joint camp/conference. This effort brought children’s workshops, adult workshops plus workshops benefiting both adults of adoptees and adult adoptees themselves.

We also had many members of the local Vietnamese community as counselors & workshop teachers. Some of these young adults have been to camp with us since the first one in 1999! They are truly a gift!

Though we have generated some very strong support from Colorado's Vietnamese community, we are always looking for more volunteers to work with the kids, teach workshops, cook meals, etc., and to be counselors at camp.

As a non-profit 501 C(3) organization, Vietnamese Heritage Camp is always seeking financial assistance to help keep camp costs reasonable for families, and still provide an outstanding program. If you'd like to help, please go to the Donations section of this web site, and thank you very much in advance.

We are also in need of donations of frequent flier miles to help defray costs of out of state speakers.  If you have miles you can donate please email us at info@heritagecamps.org
