Although families pay to attend our camps, their fees do not cover all costs. We must raise an additional $200,000 annually. Please help secure the future of all ten heritage camps. Gifts to HCAF are tax deductible.

If you are considering a donation to help the children, here are a few things that explain where your money may go *
* Gifts may be designated or used where needed most.
An endowment fund will sustain Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families and secure our long-term future. HCAF has been operating heritage camps for 20 years, and it has stayed financially solvent. However, each year, costs are going up to run the camps, and there is constant concern about finding the additional funding needed to keep camps affordable for families. An endowment will ensure that HCAF will be able to serve families and children for many years to come and will provide a sense of security for the organization to continue providing heritage camps for adoptive families.
We also have a long term vision for purchasing our own facility, a “forever facility” for adopted children and their families to enjoy year round. This is a slow and careful process, but having funds in place for this purpose may lead to a facility we own, not one we spend enormous amounts of money renting each year.
Help us fund a brand new camp in 2011! Yes, we are going to offer a two-day camp for families with children who have been adopted domestically, for families who want more of camp than their own “heritage” camp. This camp will be a way for us to continue a mission by providing families with a chance to be with other families “like them.” It will be a chance for adopted children who may not have the obvious cultural differences from their parents, to spend time with other adoptees, learning and playing together, while their parents receive all of the amazing workshops we offer at our other heritage camps, that often provide valuable information about raising adopted children, no matter where they came from.
Last year was our first annual gala fundraiser, and we had so much fun we are going to do it again this year! It will be in the spring of 2011, and there will be information on our web site coming soon, as well as invitations via the web and in the mail! Please do join us for a fun-filled evening of dinner, dancing, cocktails, a silent auction, and live entertainment! It really was a great party last year, and for a great cause. A portion of the proceeds went to support our “More Than Me” program, and will again in 2011!
Are you seeking to maximize the impact of your cash giving? Matching Gifts program will double eligible contributions for qualified nonprofit organizations like Colorado Heritage Camps. When you make donations, qualified nonprofit organizations will receive a cash match. Most corporations have partial or full matching gift programs to support their employees’ cash donations to the organizations the employee chooses to support, either financially, or through volunteer hours. This is a powerful and EASY way to make your donation go so much further. Does your company match your donations? These programs are very easy to participate in, usually a single web page or form. Check with your Human Resources department for information!
Often, you can receive substantial tax benefits by donating stocks or bonds, regardless of market conditions. For appreciated assets, you can deduct the fair market value of the asset donated and pay no capital gains tax on the increased value. For assets that have declined in value, you can sell the asset and claim the loss, then donate the proceeds of the sale to CHC for a charitable deduction. Please contact our account representative Tim Jordan at Neidiger Tucker Bruner, Inc., and he will be happy to assist you. GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. It's a simple and compelling concept. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it's powered by Yahoo!, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers — the users and the organizations do not spend a dime!
In 2007, GoodSearch was expanded to include GoodShop, an online shopping mall of world-class merchants dedicated to helping fund worthy causes across the country. Each purchase made via the GoodShop mall results in a donation to the user's designated charity or school – averaging approximately 3% of the sale, but going up to 20% or even more.
To help HCAF, simply go to www.goodsearch.com, and fill in Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families where it says “who do you goodsearch for?” It is as simple as that, and very helpful! Same with their online shopping – now’s the time of year to do it!!
It is volunteerism from parents and community members who make each camp happen, but there are also opportunities to volunteer to help keep HCAF on solid financial footing. Did you know that HCAF has an active grant writing team and fundraising committee? If you can help pursue a grant or help with our annual fundraisers, please contact Pam Sweetser, Executive Director at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Planned gifts can provide enhanced tax benefits and sometimes income to the donor, but more importantly, can enhance Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families now and in the future. Planned Gifts can be earmarked for an endowment fund, where the gift is invested and kept in perpetuity. Only earnings are used each year for specified purposes. This provides fiscal stability and long-term planning options for HCAF. Please contact our account representative Tim Jordan at Neidiger Tucker Bruner, Inc., and he will be happy to assist you.
